Yuval Melech
I design objects through simple and familiar forms.
My work often begins with archetypes: recognizable objects or shapes that already carry a certain logic. I am interested in what happens when that logic is extended, interrupted, or subtly reinterpreted.
Through material, proportion, and mechanics, I develop objects that balance utility with a restrained sense of play and character.
My process combines digital development with making. I develop ideas through drawing and 3D modelling in Rhino, followed by prototyping, 3D printing, and close engagement with fabrication. I am particularly interested in production methods that combine machine precision with a degree of manual labour, working with metal, wood, and other industrial materials.
I recently graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven and am currently based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
